Sitka Food Co-op Donations

“Bringing Good Food & Community Together.”

7thAt Sitka Food Co-op, our commitment to our community goes beyond providing wholesome natural and organic food and products at the best possible prices. Supporting the local community through charitable giving is also very important to us.

“Concern for Community” is the 7th of the Seven Principles by which cooperatives put their values into practice.

With this in mind, we give priority to local charitable organizations whose work aligns with ours – such as providing access to good, healthy food; supporting local agriculture; and creating a knowledgeable community informed about choices that impact personal wellness and the environment.

Our donations program includes three components:

  • General Donations – Small event-specific donations are provided in the form of Co-op gift certificates or gift baskets, generally not to exceed $50 in value.
  • The “Co-op Cares” Program – Those who shop the Co-op have the opportunity to “round up” their shopping bill to the nearest dollar and have that difference donated to a local charitable organization.
  • Sponsorships – When funds are available, we will consider larger donations to sponsor community health and food-related events.

Before requesting any donation, please review our donation policy.  The donation policy and application form can be found and downloaded: here.

Please remember that it may be impossible for us to fill every request received. Our decisions are based on the recipient group’s consistency with Sitka Food Co-op’s goals, the number of people who will benefit, and the funds available in our budget for donations when a request is received.

At Sitka Food Co-op, we are proud to support our community in a variety of ways, and we will always strive to serve as a center for activities and services which otherwise enrich the life of the community.
